Cowboys short on healthy tight ends Brad Biggs
Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten suffered an “internal injury” and his availability for the season opener Sept. 5 could be in jeopardy.
Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas cites multiple sources in reporting Witten was injured Monday night on a hit from Oakland Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain. Although he returned to the game a short while later, further examinations have revealed an injury that will keep Witten out of the remainder of preseason at the minimum.
That means the Cowboys, who have only two healthy tight ends at the moment, will look on the street for some help to bolster the position. John Phillips is behind Witten on the depth chart.
