The Jacksonville Jaguars plan to sign Cleveland Browns Pro Bowl center and transition player Alex Mack to a five-year offer sheet that will be difficult to match, according to ESPN.
The deal is expected to happen by Friday and the Browns will then have five days to decide whether to match the offer sheet.
Mack received a $10 millon transition tag earlier this offseason and hasn't signed it. Therefore, teams that want to submit an offer sheet to him are able to do so, with the Browns having the right to match the offer. But if Mack leaves, the Browns receive nothing in return.
The Browns have plenty of salary-cap space to keep Mack and owner Jimmy Haslam told Cleveland reporters on Monday night he expects the standout blocker to remain with the AFC North franchise.
Per the report, Mack would prefer to play for the Jaguars over the Browns.
