Philadelphia Eagles defensive line coach Jim Washburn was not happy when Jason Babin was released Tuesday afternoon, less than 24 hours after the club’s seventh consecutive loss.
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that one source said Washburn believed Babin was being made a scapegoat for the across-the-board failures of the defensive line. The Eagles have struggled all season and even more after Todd Bowles took over the unit when Juan Castillo was fired as coordinator.
Babin moved on to his next home Wednesday when the Jacksonville Jaguars claimed him and the Eagles moved ahead, declining interview requests for Washburn. But Babin, a former first-round draft pick who quickly turned into a journeyman, had revived his career under Washburn. He had 12
