Green Bay Packers receiver Jordy Nelson offers a great service to his team.

Over the past three seasons, Nelson has gone for a total of 3,322 yards and 30 touchdowns. He's been one of Aaron Rodgers' favorite targets and has been a huge reason for the Packers' success.

With that in mind, it looks like Nelson wants to be paid at a level that represents his production. According to a report from ESPN, Nelson wants to earn $10 million per season in his next contract.

Nelson signed a four-year contract worth a total of $13.989 million in 2011. He's entering the final year of his deal, which gives him a base salary of $2.55 million in 2014. Based on his production in relation to the game's other top wideouts, a clear argument can be made that Nelson is one of the NFL's most underpaid players.

An average of $10 million per year would put Nelson in company with Brandon Marshall ($10 million per year) and Andre Johnson (approximately $9.7 million per year). While a lot of folks would gladly take Marshall and Johnson over Nelson at this time, Nelson is 29 with a lot of good years left to play.

With Nelson trending upward, it's probably in the Packers' best interest to pay up when it's time to make a deal.

Follow me on Twitter: @JasonHButt
