Free agent running back expected to announce his decision in the next 48 hours. Joe Fortenbaugh
Over the last few days, LaDainian Tomlinson has been making the rounds in search of a new football team.
And now it looks as if that search may be coming to a close.
Per a report from Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, sources close to the future Hall of Fame running back say that Tomlinson has decided to sign with the New York Jets.
“It’s 100 percent,” a source close to the free agent running back told Acee. “Done deal.”
The Chargers released their all-time leading rusher on February 22, ending a nine-year stint in San Diego that was highlighted by five trips to the Pro Bowl and an MVP award in 2006.
However, another source told Acee that Tomlinson has not officially made a decision on where he will play in 2010. Should he head to New York, L.T. would be backing-up running back Shonn Greene, who led the league in playoff rushing yards this season with 304.
In addition to the Jets, the Minnesota Vikings are also reported to be interested in signing 30-year-old running back.

Hmm...let's see. Playing behind all-everything AP, or behind a second-year player who probably won't get the same workload. No one knows how well Leon will come back from the broken leg, either. He could be a mere shadow of his former football self. LT could get a very substantial share of the work in NY, more than he would in Minny.
And then there are the intangibles...living in NYC or the Twin Cities? The Big Apple hands down.
Its all about winning a Super Bowl...right....Then why would you sign with the over-achieving team like the Jets. I would also rather be 1b to AP then 1B or 1c to Shonn and Leon.. And regrading your comment about NYC and TC....I will be respectful and not comment about that, please note that I don't live in either!
Having lived in both NYC and Minneapolis, I can definitely say that the Twin Cities standard of living far exceeds that of New York, at least for the average person and family. Perhaps a multi-millionaire can avoid the negatives of the larger city but it's not true of most people.
Why would he go to the Vikings when there quarterback doesn't know if hes playing or not?
balance the running back disparity between Peterson and Grant. Vikings fans need to open their eyes, GB is just as talented as the Vikings at nearly every position. Not to mention Rodgers is a decade younger than Favre, the position which makes or breaks a franchise.

I don't think the NY Jets would be a good fit for LT. You already have Greene(who you want to groom for the future) and your all everything back in Leon W. The Vikes on the other hand, are much closer to a Super Bowl than the Jets are. If you want to play in the AFC and go to the Super Bowl next year who better set up your next visit with Ozzie Newsome and the Ravens.
