Report: Leon Washington not part of Holmes trade

It looks like Leon Washington is still a New York Jet.

Despite rumors that were floating around the internets indicating Washington could be part of the trade that sent Pittsburgh wide receiver Santonio Holmes to the New York Jets, Sports Illustrated’s Peter King has stepped in to clear the air.

Via twitter, of course.

In response to being asked if Washington was part of the deal, King replied (or “retweeted,” if you will), “No. Holmes for a 5, only.”

The Jets and Steelers reached an agreement Sunday night that will send the 26-year-old Holmes to New York in exchange for a fifth-round pick in this year’s draft (No. 151 overall).

We’re still waiting to hear from Steeler Nation to see how you guys feel regarding this trade.

Can Mike Wallace step it up next year?
