Minnesota Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel is opting out of the last year of his two-year contract, according to KTSP in Minnesota.
Cassel is voiding the last year.
He was due a $3.7 million base salary..
Cassel can now test the free agent market.
The Vikings can also ponder their options besides Cassel.
There are still scenarios where Cassel and the Vikings could reunite depending on how each party fares in free agency.
Now, Cassel has more leverage going forward so he can pick his next place of employment.
