Falcons QB working out in weight room Brad Biggs
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan took a big shot from San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks that left him with an injured left shoulder near the very end of the NFC Championship Game.
Ryan wound up staying in the game and the Falcons said had they won – a potential game-winning drive stalled just short of the goalline – he would have been OK to play in the Super Bowl.
It didn’t matter and just now Ryan has fully recovered from a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The injury forced Ryan to pull out of the Pro Bowl and fortunately he did not require surgery.
“He’s started working out in the weight room,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said, according to the report. “He’s moved from the rehab part of it to working in the weight room, which is a good thing.
“He’s been working in the training room and this week he started working in the weight room. He’s recovered and we absolutely expect him to well beyond 100 percent when we start our offseason program (April 24).”
