Randy Moss is a Minnesota Viking again.
A trade that picked up real momentum on Tuesday has been completed this morning.
The All-Pro wide receiver will return to the team that drafted him in the NFL as the Vikings have traded a third-round draft pick to the New England Patriots in exchange for him, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The Vikings have badly needed someone to stretch the opponent’s defense since Sidney Rice was lost. Now, they pair Moss with Brett Favre. But it will be interesting to see how Moss fits into the West Coast offense that is run by Brad Childress.
Still, it’s an immediate upgrade for a team in need of a boost and when Rice is healthy in the second half of the season, the Vikings could have a very potent attack. They’ve got to find a way to win some games before then though.
Moss is seeking a contract extension, something that was not part of the trade discussions, and now perhaps he will be motivated to go out and earn one.
