Report: Nate Montana invited to 49ers local pro day

A quarterback at a local pro day with just about any other last name would hardly rate a mention.

But Nate Montana is the son of 49ers icon Joe Montana, and the club has invited him to participate in its local pro day Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

Nate Montana, who began his college career at Notre Dame where his father starred, is not expected to be drafted. But his name will create a buzz for 49ers fans and you can’t rule out the possibility he’ll get a look from the club later this spring or perhaps in the summer.

Nate Montana bounced around in school, also attending Pasadena City College, Montana and ultimately West Virginia Wesleyan, a Division II school where he finished. He made nine starts last season and threw 19 touchdown passes.
