New league year set to open Tuesday Brad Biggs
At last.
The NFL is expected to release to its 32 teams – and the rest of us – the exact salary-cap number for the 2012 season by Friday.
Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports the long sought number will be revealed tomorrow or perhaps by the end of the day today. That will come just in time for the beginning of the new league year on Tuesday when free agency opens up.
The figure is expected to be close to the $120 million it was at last season. Presumably, this will also finalize things like tender numbers for restricted free agents and other fine details. And we thought the CBA agreement last summer had solved everything in tidy fashion.
