Green Bay continues to take care of in-house roster. Joe Fortenbaugh
The flurry of re-signings in Green Bay continued this weekend as the Packers and free agent offensive tackle Mark Tauscher reached an agreement on a two-year deal, according to Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee.
The terms of the contract were not immediately available.
The 32-year-old Tauscher suffered a torn ACL during the 2008 season and went unsigned as a free agent until the Packers brought him back on October 12 of last year. The ten-year veteran started all eight games he played for Green Bay in 2009.
The Tauscher signing comes on the heels of two other deals the Packers finalized this weekend. Green Bay also reached multi-year agreements with safety Nick Collins and nose tackle Ryan Pickett.
The Collins and Pickett deals came less than one week after Green Bay re-signed veteran left tackle Chad Clifton to a three-year contract worth up to $19.58 million.
The big question in Wisconsin now is whether or not the team will continue to address the offensive line despite the new contracts they just handed out to Tauscher and Clifton. Clifton will be 34-years-old and Tauscher will be 33 at the start of the 2010 season.
In addition, both players were starters on an offensive line that gave up 51 sacks last year, the most allowed by any team in the league in 2009.

To be fair Tauscher did not come in until about the 6th game, and the o-line drastically improved once he did.

No kidding, AndyWI.
I'm used to dealing with sensationalism and half-truths with the media, but this site usually is above that. C'mon, Joe Fortenbaugh! Clean it up, OK?
Not to mention a large amount of those sacks were given up when Clifton was also out.
Happy for Tauscher. Yes they will address the Tackle position in the draft and be able to further develop Lang and decide if Barbre is capable to play significant snaps
That's nice. Me thinks they'll try T.J. at RT during training camp a bit and draft a suitable guy to play behind Cliff for a couple of years.
AndyWI. No. our line did not drastically improve after Tauscher got there. Tauscher was better than Barbre, but our line was still terrible. It is the worst offensive line in the league with and without Tausher. Both Tauscher and Clifton are back-up level players now and daryn Colledge? What is he doing still on the roster?
If we go into this season with Clifton and Tauscher as starters we are an 8-8 team. Tauscher may be able to still start, but is nothing special. Clifton gets zero push, most penalized Offensive Lineman on the most penalized offensive line in the league, and now gives up sacks more than ever and will break down. He and Colledge must be replaced. I like Clifton as a back-up though
Written a fantastic, not only describes the knowledge, perhaps we should feel happy, thank you
balance the running back disparity between Peterson and Grant. Vikings fans need to open their eyes, GB is just as talented as the Vikings at nearly every position. Not to mention Rodgers is a decade younger than Favre, the position which makes or breaks a franchise.
