The St. Louis Rams have taken care of business with defensive end Chris Long and linebacker James Laurinaitis is next.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports the club is expected to put the finishing touches on a contract extension for the linebacker before the start of the regular season. Coach Jeff Fisher and the team’s new regime have identified core players they want to lock up for the long term and Laurinaitis is one of them.
The Rams will have a host of extra draft picks in coming years with a chance to build around their young foundation. The key to it all, of course, will be the development of Sam Bradford. Entering his third year, this is a crucial season for him.
