There have been some questions about the future of tackle Jason Smith on the offensive line of the St. Louis Rams.
Looks like the club has made the decision to bounce another Jason. According to Aaron Wilson of scout.com, the Rams have informed center Jason Brown he will be released.
Brown was replaced in the starting lineup late in the 2011 season. He signed with the Rams three years ago, getting what at the time was the biggest contract for centers in the game, a $37.5 million, five-year deal. Brown was due to earn $5 million this season and he had a salary-cap figure of $7.2 million.
Provided he’s healthy, Brown could be a solid target in free agency for teams seeking a veteran center.
