As all 32 teams continue to perform their due diligence on prospects they will be paying dump trucks of money to come summer, the St. Louis Rams continue to fuel the rumors that they may be addressing the quarterback position with the first overall pick.

That, or the front office was just looking for an excuse to go hang out in tropical Pensacola earlier this week.

According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Rams general manager Billy Devaney and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur traveled to Florida earlier this week to meet with Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford.

Bradford is currently in Pensacola training for his March 29 pro day.

In addition to meeting with Bradford, Devaney and Shurmur also sat down and talked with Dr. James Andrews, the man who repaired Bradford’s shoulder after he suffered a season-ending injury during the 2009 season.

The fact that the Rams sent higher ups from the organization to meet with Bradford in Florida shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point. The team desperately needs to find not only their quarterback of the future, but a face for the struggling franchise as well.

Drafting Bradford—the top-rated quarterback prospect in this year’s draft—would be the right move. Head coach Steve Spagnuolo doesn’t have another year to waste on using a quarterback-by-committee approach. The Rams won just one game in 2009 and another disastrous season, coupled with having no quarterback of the future, would put Spags on the hot seat entering his third year.

It’s the right move and it’s one the NFP has been calling for a long time.

Then they must be planning to draft Bradford, right? Nevermind that Spags and Devaney were just in Nebraska to talk to eveyone and their sisters about Suh. Spags sat down and talked to Suh personally for over 30 minutes. I think we'll all know who the pick is a few days before the draft. Until then it is just speculation. The Rams FO is trying its best to make the right decision here. Personally, I'd take the best player available. That organization has needs at every position and needs depth. There is no reason to reach for a QB if there are better players available, which there are.

People who go on about the Rams needs at QB constitute the uninformed opinion on this team. The problems on offense are with the offensive line. The poor performance of Bulger has everything to do with the fact that the team has set records for sacks allowed.and throw-aways. But its not surprising that public opinion has focused on Bulger. St Louis has a prominent sportswriter that beats the drum about problems at QB simply because he deals in controversy and he needs a single face for his wipping boy. The average fan finds it more believable that the Quaterback is disproportionatly responsible for both success and failure. The reality of the Rams problems on offense is a complex one. It won't be addressed by canning Bulger. We can only hope that on draft day, the Rams will show more intelligence and courage than any of the "great unwashed" who have been expressing their ill-informed opinions of the offensive needs of the Rams.

I think Bradford would be a mistake for the Rams. He's a good prospect but #1 overall? Has everyone forgotten he's coming off shoulder surgery & hasn't thrown a pass in anger since? Thats a huge risk to take there especially w/as sure a thing as possible in this draft w/Suh. Plus I don't want that Monster in the NFC north which is where he'll be if the Rams don't pick him. I think There are some pretty decent QB prospects lower in the draft to take a chance on like Lefevour or Skelton who both are better athletes w/stronger arms them Bradford. Especially since Bradford had just an adequate arm before his surgery.

If Bradford was a true #1, or even a top 10, instead of a mid to late first round QB, then I'd say get him. But, as it is, there are far better (and less risky) players and positions at the top of the board. Bradford may be the next Manning or the next Leaf. You just don't know. And, that injury to his shoulder should be a big red flag

The Rams have a bunch of holes to fill. Get a lineman with the top pick (offense or defense) and wait until next year for the QB. With a rookie salary cap highly likely next year, that QB won't cost you the franchise either...

Any one who goes on and on and on about Bradford's injury, smack yourself. Injuries aint nothin anymore (ask the reigning superbowl MVP Drew Brees who hurt his throwing arm worse than Bradford hurt his). I mean just because he has been banged up before doesnt mean he is no count. You neverrrr kno who will be successful or not anymore. Suh might have dominated in college, but is that a guarantee he will be as successful in the pros where he goes against ppl who is twice as fast, as strong, and smart as college players? Stop goin on bout Suh, and let this franchise draft Bradford, someone who we need to take a chance on at the moment of need, cuz in reality, each player is a chance. Right now, its QB all the way.
