Washington will revamp line, wants center back Brad Biggs
INDIANAPOLIS—The offensive line was unquestionably the biggest problem spot for the Washington Redskins last season, but as the new coaching staff and front office goes about rebuilding it, they’re trying to keep one man in place.
The Redskins have opened up talks with center Casey Rabach on a contract extension, according to Jason Reid of the Washington Post. The veteran is slated to become an unrestricted free agent March 5.
The good thing for the organization is it doesn’t have a host of UFA’s to be concerned about. Rabach is the top priority. Reid points out Washington might have as many as three new starters on the line next season, not a bad thing considering how it performed. Keeping the pivot in Rabach will help with the transition, particularly if quarterback Jason Campbell returns. That’s a whole different story though. Stay tuned.

I like Raback but I do think we need to get someone to compete with him. Mabe a undrafted FA or someone else in FA. I still say go for ol with number 4. Vinny ignored the ol for years and we cant afford to waste a number 4 pick with a qb bust. Its simple we can pick a qb watch him struggle, and then cut him in 3 years or we can pick a ol and watch him kick ass for 10-12 years. Seems like a simple choice to me. Who was the last to 10 qb we picked that worked out or any 1st round qb? Rambsey and Shuler were busts and Cambell is most likely a bust as well. I think the best qb we got out of the draft in the past 20 years was Trent Green and we let him go. I don't remember but I am pretty sure he wasn't a first pick. For all the " take a qb at number 4 people" why not take colt McCoy with our number 2 and take a Okung at number 4. We need to address the ol first and formost.
Our fourth selection should be a center to start taking over by 2011 or 2012...good centers aren't hard to find in mid rounds...the important thing is that we get three OL who will eventually be starters in the first three rounds, even if we have to trade rogers and heyer or trade back in the first round to get the three picks. If we draft any position besides OL in the first four rounds, a few more years of agony are locked into place...
To Coach Mike Shanahan,
We all thank God you are with the Skins. I doubt you will read this but in case you or your son does, please consider taking Jimmy Clausen and Golden Tate in the first round. I recommend you draft Tate first, then Clausen. To do this, trade Campbell for an Offensive Lineman of your choice from Buffalo, and one of our current lineman. Campbell is capable but does not read different defenses as well as Clausen. In other words, if you trade with Buffalo for their 1st round, 6th pick, then you can shore up a new dynasty for us loyal fans.
I think the defense is sound. But when you are on the field over sixty percent of every game, then you are going to suffer. We need another veteran quarterback who can work with Clausen.
Also if possible keep or have the awesome former All-Pro Receiver Charlie Taylor work with Tate. Also please work on red zone scoring with the Offensive Coordinator. The key to re-building is well to rebuild. Take away the egos, and free up some fundage for players who are hungry and want a Super bowl in three years.
Also consider using second string or back up players in every game early. There are two reasons for doing this; One, you make the other team over confident. Two, the starters are fresher. You may even consider doing this as a drill. In other words, have the second and third stringers play the first quarter intermittenly.
You are in our prayers,
Godspeed,
Cole Bolchoz
Check San Diego or the Colts for another offensive lineman. Talk to Farve as well. You never know.
