Mortensen said surgery could be needed Brad Biggs
Matthew Stafford experienced more swelling in his right knee when he practiced on Wednesday for the Detroit Lions, Chris Mortensen reported on ESPN this morning.
Stafford suffered a dislocated kneecap when he was sacked by the Chicago Bears Adewale Ogunleye three weeks ago at Soldier Field. Stafford sat out the final two days of practice this week and will be sidelined today as Daunte Culpepper will start at Green Bay.
Mortensen reported that Dr. James Andrews of Birmingham, Ala., will evaluate a new MRI on Monday and determine whether or not surgery is needed to “tighten the joint.’’ If that is the case, the No. 1 overall draft pick could miss the remainder of the season. Otherwise, the Lions are heading into a bye week after today and Stafford could emerge from it ready to play again.
Ogunleye was fined $7,500 for a violation of the horse collar rule on the sack. He is appealing the fine.

Few of us Red Raiders are surprised and most feel Crabtree was the 49ers best WR the day he signed the contract. I don't think you guys realize how good he is. You don't get a good feel for his ability until you see him live.
