Roethlisberger injury described as 'pretty significant' Terry McCormick
An ESPN report on the latest regarding Ben Roethlisberger's injured shoulder is that the staff has been told "to proceed with" Byron Leftwich as this week's starter against the Baltimore Ravens.
Roethlisberger suffered a sprain of the SC joint in his throwing shoulder in Monday night's overtime win over the Kansas City Chiefs. The SC joint is in the front of the shoulder and links the shoulder to the arm. Roethlisberger was knocked out of the game in the third quarter and also suffered a rib injury on the hit.
The injury was termed as "pretty significant" and Roethlisberger was said to be in a lot of pain on Tuesday.
The Steelers could not have had a worse time for the injury to occur as they play their chief AFC North rival, the Ravens, twice in the next three weeks. Baltimore currently has a one-game lead in the division race.
