Tim Tebow wants out in New York, according to a report from the New York Daily News.
The Jets benched Mark Sanchez after his abysmal performance Monday night in Tennessee, but instead of Tebow, who played one series and a handful of other plays, Rex Ryan will go with third-stringer Greg McElroy.
Tebow apparently will ask the Jets to release or trade him following the season if McElroy retains the starting job in the final two weeks.
Tebow has been used rather sparingly as a gimmick player by the Jets, but has not really been given any shot at playing time as a regular quarterback.
If Tebow is released, it will be interesting to see where he lands and with what role.
