Report: Tebow could be released soon

The New York Jets continue to have a quarterback quandary.

After adding West Virginia's Geno Smith in the second round of the draft on Saturday, the Jets now have six quarterbacks on the roster.

While there has been speculation that incumbent starter Mark Sanchez could stay (in large part due to the club's financial commitment to him), the New York Daily News says that the Jets could soon release Tim Tebow.

The Jets never gave Tebow much chance at quarterback last season, and used him instead occasionally on special teams or in a wildcat formation.

With Smith now in the fold, he appears to be the future for the Jets. The report also indicates that new general manager John Idzik reportedly bristles at the notion of the circus atmosphere that has permeated the Jets the past two years.

In New York, with Rex Ryan's tendency for media-grabbing statements, good luck keeping that to a minimum - whether Tebow and/or Sanchez are on the roster or not.
