Report: Tebow opted out of Wildcat package

The New York Jets are such a train wreck that apparently even Tim Tebow is done with them.

According to the New York Post and other outlets, Tebow apparently was so upset over being bypassed in favor of third-stringer Greg McElroy that he told the coaching staff to remove him from the Wildcat package this week.

And so the Jets did. Tebow did not play in Sunday's loss to the San Diego Chargers as receiver Jeremy Kerley ran the Wildcat package.

There were reports on Sunday that Tebow could land in Jacksonville with the Jaguars this off-season. At any rate, this year appears to be a lost season for him. It is clear now the Jets only brought Tebow to New York to be a gimmick and a publicity stunt. They never had any intentions of him playing quarterback for them.

And while there are those who will be critical of Tebow for making what appears to be a selfish and very un-Tebow-like move, one thing he has certainly learned about the NFL is that it is a business and that in order to survive you have to take care of your own interests sometimes.
