Philly may wait until the preseason to swing a deal. Joe Fortenbaugh
One thing that has become quite clear this offseason is that there will be no shortage of reports surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles and their three quarterbacks.
The latest development? The Birds may wait until the preseason before unloading Michael Vick.
The Eagles haven’t initiated any trade talks regarding Vick and may hold on to the former Virginia Tech standout until this summer in the hopes of seeing his value increase, according to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com.
Should the Eagles choose to be patient, the team would have to pay Vick a $1.5 million roster bonus and another $1.0 million of the signal-caller’s 2010 salary.
An NFL team executive told La Canfora, “I don’t think there is enough value in a trade to make the move now. They don’t have to trade him until before the roster bonus is due, and I’d be very surprised if they traded him in March.”
The key to remember here is that the Eagles are in a position of power. The NFL is a quarterback-driven league and the Birds are currently in possession of three players capable of starting at the quarterback position.
It's all about supply and demand.
With teams like the St. Louis Rams, Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills are rumored to be in the market for a veteran quarterback, the Eagles front office has the luxury of taking their time and waiting for the best possible deal.
Just don’t tell that to the fans of Philadelphia, who have (on occasion) demonstrated what some would call, a lack of patience.

I realize Vick is sexy for sportswriters but the fact is that in his prime (3+ years ago) he wasn't a QB who could throw accurately to his WR's. His weapon was his speed and it's questionable if he has it now. If he'd have passed on the money and gone to a league where he would have actually played (UFL) and demonstrated he's actually changed rather than merely saying he has, then I could understand the rumormongering. As it is the buzz surrounding Vick is all hype.
He'd definitely be the perfect QB to run the wishbone but an NFL offense? It's very doubtful. It's a slow season for NFL news - as we're now inundated with "mock drafts" which is worse speculation and accuracy than Perez Hilton.
Wouldn't the Eagles want to move him before the draft, assuming they will get a pick for him? Plus, once they move him, it only increases the value of their remaining two QBs, as teams would no longer see Vick as a possible fall back if they didn;t get McNabb/Kolb.
