Will Smith's 2013 campaign was over before it began.
Tearing his ACL in a preseason game against Houston, Smith spent the entire year on injured reserve. Adding insult to injury, Smith's 10 years in New Orleans came to an end after the Saints let him know he wouldn't be brought back earlier this offseason.
But Smith could find himself on a roster of a contending team if all goes well. According to a report from ESPN, Smith is visiting the New England Patriots on Tuesday.
Smith had a productive career in New Orleans, tallying 67.5 sacks the past decade. He also recorded two interceptions, 26 pass deflections and 20 forced fumbles.
It's doubtful Smith, 32, would step into a starting role if he joined a team like the Patriots. But, assuming his knee is OK, he could provide a role in third down or pass-rushing situations.
