An report that San Diego Chargers running Ryan Mathews was arrested after knocking a man out in a bar fight in San Diego is being refuted by a number of media outlets, including the San Diego Union-Tribune.

San Diego PD spokesperson Sgt. Robin Rose indicated to the newspaper that there was an incident at the Side Bar in the Gaslight District in San  Diego, but that Mathews was not arrested by the SDPD.

“We can say that he was definitely not arrested by SDPD," Rose said, "but there might have been a separate arrest that lead to that (report). … It was not Ryan Mathews.”

Police would not say whether Mathews was present at the bar when the alleged incident occurred.
