New York Jets coach Rex Ryan is lobbying hard for a New York Super Bowl, and he's likely to get his wish.

The New York bid is the favorite for the 2014 Super Bowl over competing bids from Miami and Tampa with the vote set for the owners meetings next week in Texas.

"The game should be played here, and it would be a great Super Bowl," Ryan said. "I don't see how it's not played here," Ryan said. "The weather, if your team is not built to play in those conditions, that's too bad. I'd just as soon play all those games up north.

"We've got the best city in the world. I think that's indisputable. We've got arguably one of the top stadiums in the league, a brand-new stadium and it helps two teams."

Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes is in disagreement with his coach and owner Woody Johnson, which probably isn't a great idea since he's suspended for the first four games of the season and has a history of getting into trouble.

Holmes thinks the Super Bowl should only be played in warm weather cities.

"I like a Super Bowl where the elements don't have any factor in the game," Holmes said. "I would prefer to keep all Super Bowls somewhere in the South. I don't want to play anywhere where it's cold. We play in it enough during the season."

Somewhere, Woody Johnson is wincing and stifling an urge to read Holmes the riot act.
