Rice said to be seeking Peterson money

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, who has said all along he wants to stay put, is believed to be asking for a deal similar to what the MInnesota Vikings gave Adrian Peterson, according to SI.com's Peter King.

Peterson's deal is seven years and $100 million, but the real crux of the contract is the $40 million guaranteed in the first three seasons of the pact.

King asserts that the Ravens aren't likely to pay that kind of money to Rice and suggests that the $7.7 million franchise tag could be an option for Ozzie Newsome and Baltimore.

The use of the franchise tag would not only keep Rice in Baltimore, it would buy some additional months of negotiating for the two sides on a long-term deal.
