No new deal coming for veteran defensive end Aaron Wilson
Oakland Raiders veteran defensive end Richard Seymour isn't expected to get a new deal prior to Thursday's NFL deadline for franchise players, according to NFL.com.
If a new deal isn't struck by Thursday, Seymour has to play under his one-year, $12.398 million franchise tag. Under NFL rules governing franchise players, Seymour can;'t sign a long-term deal until after the season following Thursday's NFL deadline.
"Nothing new to report on this end," Seymour wrote in a text message to NFL.com.
Earlier this summer, Seymour signed his exclusive rights franchise tender.
Seymour was named the Raiders' franchise player in February.
The Raiders acquired Seymour from the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2011 first-round draft pick.
In his first season in Oakland, Seymour started every game and recorded 47 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble.
