Richardson to have MRI on sore knee

Those Jim Brown comparisons will have to wait a little while for Trent Richardson.

Richardson's sore knee will require the fourth overall pick to have an MRI and could keep him out of the Cleveland Browns' preseason opener with the Detroit Lions.

Browns coach Pat Shurmur told the Cleveland Plain Dealer he did not believe the injury was serious.

"He had a sore knee,'' said Shurmur. "That's why we held him out. We'll have to evaluate him further, which we'll do here after practice and we'll see where we go from there.

"There's a chance he won't play on Friday. I'm always concerned about injuries. I think at this point, we'll just find out what it is. He's been practicing well and he's just a little bit sore right now, so we'll just see where he is.''

Richardson, the fourth overall pick in the draft, had surgery for a meniscus tear in February and did not work out at the NFL Combine due to the procedure.
