New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski is set to have surgery on Thursday to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Pensacola, Fla., a league source confirmed.
Renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrew will do the procedure.
Gronkowski tore his ACL and medial collateral ligaments Dec. 8 against the Cleveland Browns on a hit by safety Tashaun Gipson.
The hope is for Gronkowski to return by training camp.
