There is a long way to go until the start of the regular season.
A little more than four months to be exact.
But with one rookie minicamp practice down, Rob Ryan is already forecasting wonderful things for the Dallas Cowboys.
“I just think we’ll be better than I think we’re gonna be,” the defensive coordinator said, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Nretwork. “We’re gonna be damn good.”
Ryan has reason to be amped. He’s had a lot of success in the past and there are some excellent core players in place. The Cowboys have only augmented their defensive by signing cornerback Brandon Carr and making a trade up in the first round to grab LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne. The Cowboys have also added inside linebacker Dan Connor via free agency raising expectations, once again, in Big D.
“When you add some excellent players like we’ve done, makes my job a hell of a lot easier,” Ryan said. “We’re looking forward to it. I’m excited. No question. I’m excited to be a Dallas Cowboy and I’m excited to run some of the stuff we’ve been talking about.”
The Cowboys will certainly be picked to compete in the NFC East. But aren’t they every year? Don’t the offseason additions always look good in Dallas on an annual basis? There is a long way to go. Stay tuned.
