Washington Redskins star quarterback Robert Griffin III made it official, announcing that he's been cleared by Dr. James Andrews to resume playing after undergoing offseason surgery on his torn anterior cruciate ligament.

"Operation Patience ..Complete. Cleared. To God Be The Glory," Griffin wrote on his Twitter account.

Griffin was examined today by his surgeon, Andrews and is now set to play in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Redskins and Griffin have repeatedly said that the former Heisman Trophy winner had made a solid recovery from his knee injury.

It's a go now for the Redskins and their ultra-athletic signal caller.
