Wide receiver will be out until start of training camp Brad Biggs
The No. 1 touchdown producer for the New Orleans Saints last season is on the shelf for the remainder of the offseason program.
Wide receiver Robert Meachem is sidelined after undergoing surgery to repair torn cartilage on the second toe of his left foot, according to Brian Allee-Walsh of NewOrleans.com.
Meachem injured his toe last year and the issue didn’t go away during the offseason.
“It’s just a nick,’’ Meachem told Allee-Walsh Saturday at the team’s practice facility on Airline Drive as he walked from his car with the aid of crutches and a boot on his left foot.
Coach Sean Payton said the team hopes that Meachem will be available at the start of training camp in late July or shortly after then.
Meachem caught 45 passes for 722 yards last season and scored 10 touchdowns.
