No stranger to performance-enhancing drugs himself as an admitted former steroid user during his playing days, former Denver Broncos linebacker Bill Romanowski was critical of suspended Houston Texans linebacker during an interview on SIRIUS radio today.

Cushing is suspended for four games for violating the NFL steroid policy.

Cushing has admitted to testing positive for hCG.

hCG can be used as a masking agent for steroids and to get the body to produce testosterone normally after a cycle of steroids:

"Now, as far as Brian Cushing, here's the deal: The only way you can get that substance that he took, hCG, in your body is to inject it, okay?" Romanowski said. "So let's get that clear. So his sob story on TV was, I'm just going to say, was a total lie, okay? ... Do you think when he was getting injected in his ass that he didn't know what was going on? Well, bullcrap. Let's get real. Be honest about it, Brian.

"I'm sorry you got caught but be honest about it. What that substance is is a substance from pregnant women's urine and what it does is when you have taken a cycle of steroids it turns your system back on from being shut down. It is very, very common in bodybuilding. That is a bodybuilding supplement, or a bodybuilding drug, where when these bodybuilders go on massive doses of steroids for months at a time, they will take that drug to turn their normal system back on and get it working again."

Romanowski spoke highly of the NFL drug testing program.

"The NFL has been doing it, testing athletes, for 30 years and clearly they are one of the cleanest sports in the world when it comes to that," Romanowski said. "People think that football players are doing a lot of stuff. Well, if they are they're playing russian roulette. So the NFL has done an outstanding job policing that. Are they perfect? No, but they have done an outstanding job."

Testing for 3o years? Cleanest sports? If that was true you never would have played a single down. Was there ever a time Romo wasn't on roids?

I clicked on this link out of morbid curiosity (the way you can't help looking at the scene of an accident as you drive by), but that was actually a pretty decent insight from Romanowski, that you can't get that drug in your body without injecting it. So, there was no chance that the "oops, I didn't know that that supliment had steroids in it, I'm shocked, shocked I say" excuse holds any water. Unless Cushing wants to claim that he tripped and fell on the syringe.

No, this is practically a hand-in-the-cookie-jar situation. ...except that the cookie jar has big, black and white label marked "steroids."

I really get a kick out of you fans that bash players on a regular basis or comment on something you know absolutely nothing about (being an athlete or football). i do not condone Romanowski's use of performance enhancing drugs, but to say "he never would have played a down without them" is just plain stupid.....roids dont make a poor athlete a Pro.....there has to be some talent there in the first place....they turn an avg player into a good palyer, a good player into a very good player, a very good one into a great one, etc. if you have never played the game beyond pop warner, i must steal a quote from Dwayne 2000...STFU....if you cant draw up an Under front, STFU......
