Brandon Carr may walk away in free agency. Terry McCormick
Stanford Routt's new address kept him right inside the AFC West, as he joined the Kansas City Chiefs after being released by the Oakland Raiders.
Routt, who had also visited the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills, will receive around $20 million over three years, including $6 million guaranteed in 2012, according to the Kansas City Star.
Routt joining the Chiefs probably means that Kansas City will allow free agent cornerback Brandon Carr to walk away. Kansas City apparently was faced with choosing between Carr and free agent receiver Dwayne Bowe, who could be franchised, according to the Star's Adam Teicher.
