San Diego Chargers rookie running back Ryan Mathews has a high right ankle sprain and didn't practice today.
"It's a little bit better," Mathews told the Associated Press. "It's a high ankle, so it's going to be sore and everything."
Mathews hurt his ankle during a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Mathews has rushed for 101 yards on 24 carries and caught three passes for 31 yards, fumbling twice.
"I don't think it's that bad," Mathews said. "I've had a high ankle before, a while ago. It's not as bad. But they're going to do what they need to do to take precautionary measures to make sure something that could be a week, if I don't treat it right, could turn into six weeks."
Also not practicing: wide receiver Malcom Floyd (leg), linebacker Jyles Tucker (non-injury related) and linebacker Stephen Cooper (knee).
