With a Thursday night showdown coming against the New England Patriots, the normally outspoken Rex Ryan is taking a low-key approach to the game.

Ryan, whose Jets come into the game at 4-6 and in a must-win situation for their playoff hopes, heaped praise upon Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on Tuesday.

"You can almost say he’s a machine back there," Ryan told the Newark Star-Ledger. "The thing about him, he’s a machine yet he’s passionate and a fiery leader. You wish he was just a machine. His competitive side elevates his team as well. That's what you get from those once in a generation type quarterbacks."

On Monday, Ryan put the normal cockiness and trash talk on the back burner, given the Jets' struggles this season. Looks like we'll find out Thursday night if Rex's soft shoe methods will work against his chief rival.
