How long he will be available for the New Orleans Saints this season remains a real question, but the team will have linebacker Jonathan Vilma in place for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Saints have promoted Vilma from the physically unable to perform list today, meaning he will be available on the 53-man roster and is expected to play vs. the Bucs. Vilma had been on the PUP list recovering from a knee injury.
The Saints cut loose veteran wide receiver Greg Camarillo to make room on the roster for Vilma, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. His status because of the bounty scandal remains up in the air. Former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue will hear an appeal before the end of the month.
It wasn’t all good news for the Saints. Tight end Jimmy Graham, who suffered a sprained ankle two weeks ago in the club’s first win of the season over the San Diego Chargers, will not play. Graham is not traveling to Tampa.
