The New Orleans Saints have landed the top safety available: former Buffalo Bills free safety Jairus Byrd.
Byrd agreed to terms on a six-year contract tonight, the team announced.
Byrd is a three-time Pro Bowl selection.
He has 256 career tackles, 22 interceptions, 33 pass deflections, 11 forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.
The Saints have formed a dynamic safety tandem with Byrd and Kenny Vaccaro, one of the top defensive rookies in the NFL last season.
Byrd replaces Malcolm Jenkins, who signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.
