The New Orleans Saints had a steady backup quarterback situation the last several seasons with Chase Daniel wearing a visor watching Drew Brees from the sideline.
Daniel departed for a lucrative deal in Kansas City and nearly three weeks later the Saints have come up with a replacement. Journeyman Luke McCown has been signed to a one-year contract in New Orleans, according to his agent Mike McCartney’s Twitter account.
McCown has nine years of experience, mostly as a backup, in the NFL and spent time last season with the Atlanta Falcons. McCown was with the Saints briefly last offseason. This time, he might have an opportunity to stick around a little longer.
