Saints sign Seneca Wallace

The New Orleans Saints will have some competition for the job behind Drew Brees.

Veteran Seneca Wallace has been added to the mix and he is expected to compete with the previously signed Luke McCown for the No. 2 job that was held by Chase Daniel the previous four seasons.

The Saints announced the addition of Wallace today. He previously got looks this offseason from the Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders. While it would not be surprising if the Saints spent a mid- to late-round selection on a quarterback, the team has more pressing needs and will probably be satisfied with one of the journeymen.

The Cleveland Browns released Wallace at final cutdowns last August. During the season, the Saints had Wallace in for a workout, so the team was intrigued enough to kick the tires on him at the time.
