The New Orleans Saints brought in defensive tackle Kendrick Clancy for a close inspection and then made him part of the team’s final cuts today.

It’s possible Clancy could return at some point but after cutting defensive end Bobby McCray twice now in a matter of months, it’s less likely he will be coming back.

The Saints got to the magic number of 53 as they terminated the contracts of running back Ladell Betts, offensive linemen Nick Leckey and Terrence Metcalf, fullback Jason McKie and quarterback Patrick Ramsey.

The team waived waived wide receiver Montez Billings, offensive linemen Brandon Carter, Na'Shan Goddard and Jermey Parnell, linebacker Harry Coleman, cornerback Reggie Jones, fullback Zak Keasey, tight end Tyler Lorenzen, defensive linemen DeMario Pressley, Jay Ross and Al Woods and safety Chip Vaughn.

As reported earlier, safety Darren Sharper and was placed on the physically unable to perform list along with linebacker Clint Ingram. Linebacker Jonathan Casillas was move to injured reserve.
