Late hit cost 15 yards, then five grand Brad Biggs
The preseason opener was a costly adventure for San Diego Chargers defensive lineman Travis Johnson.
That is because he came away with a $5,000 fine from the NFL. Johnson was called for a late hit on Chicago Bears running back Chester Taylor when he jumped on Taylor’s back at the end of a seven-yard run in the second quarter.
A 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty was called on the play and the league deemed that the hit was indeed uncalled for, levying the fine against him. Taylor had already been tackled by Chargers linebacker Darry Beckwith and strong safety Steve Gregory.
Johnson has the right to appeal the fine. Players only receive stipends in training camp and preseason, small payments that will not match the fine.

Vibram, please put down the crack pipe. WTF are u talking about?
I don't get the Chargers. I've heard a lot said about how they started slowly last year with their D and want to get it down quickly this year. OK, they started 2-3 but they friggin' ended up 13-3. How much better do they think they're going to get?
I'm developing a serious case of dislike for a team that thinks it can impose its will on other teams in the preseason. There's sort of an unwritten rule that you don't try to injure others.
Fuck them. I'm hoping this is the year this team, which can't do SHIT in the postseason, crashes and burns.

I wish him only the best. Get well, young man.
This stuff happens, didn't cause Terrell Davis to retire, as that actually was the knee injury he sustained while tackling a Jet on an INT - that being said he was always and the donkeys cognizant of this issue with Daivs as well...migraines and nuerological problems are real for damn sure and don't make an NFL players life any easier - and seriously "karma" - give it a rest already - Favre's not the devil, hasn't been sighted hanging with Lucifer or sacrificying any virgins - well lately anyway - that was the "before PG Favre" that's marketed for mass consumption...
