Jets QB says Tebow is 'here to help us.' Terry McCormick
Mark Sanchez doesn't sound like a man who could be headed for a quarterback controversy with Tim Tebow.
Sanchez broke his silence on Monday, telling Newsday's Rod Boone that Tebow was brought on board to help the Jets and that he isn't worried about losing his starting role.
"We are adding another player and we are not replacing anybody. He’s here to help us and I’m confident in my abilities," Sanchez said.
Sanchez added that he believes Tebow, acquired from Denver on Friday, will be welcomed into the Jets locker room, and that he would be part of that welcoming process.
Sanchez also didn't take issue with management, he says, about not being consulted prior to the Jets' pursuit of Tebow, and added, "I have faith in those guys upstairs."
