In the latest installment to the Josh Freeman saga, Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano said the quarterback overslept and missed a team photo.

Freeman and Schiano have both denied reports that Schiano rigged balloting to keep Freeman from being named a team captain.

"That was dealt with by me internally, and we've moved on," Schiano said. "That was a long time ago in football days. That's all that was to it. He overslept and missed a picture."

Added Freeman "Basically, I overslept. Went blank."

Schiano has acknowledged a players-only meeting, denying it was centered on captain voting.

"I was not aware of any questioning on the captain's vote because there isn't any," Schiano said. "I trust the players. When the leadership of the team wants to talk amongst themselves, I think that's healthy."

Freeman was a captain previously, but has denied Schiano got involved in the process.

"Coach would not do that," he said.
