Seahawks CB Richard Sherman planning to play following Friday appeal

The Seattle Seahawks are expecting to have cornerback Richard Sherman in the lineup Sunday night when they host the San Francisco 49ers in an NFC West showdown.

Sherman spent Thursday and Friday in New York for an appeal hearing on his four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs, according to Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times.

“Been a long day but very productive,” Sherman wrote on his Twitter account Friday as he returned to Seattle.

“The result will be announced soon enough,” Sherman continued. “And I will be out there with my teammates Sunday!”

The Seahawks didn’t want to miss Sherman for two days of practice but that beats the alternative of missing him on Sunday. If Sherman loses his appeal, he will miss the postseason, assuming the Seahawks reach the playoffs. Cornerback Brandon Browner dropped his appeal earlier in the month and will be eligible to return after the final regular-season game.
