Seahawks don't pick up option for James Carpenter
The Seattle Seahawks have decided not to pick up a fifth-year option for 2011 first-round offensive lineman James Carpenter, the team announced.
By doing so, the Seahawks won't have Carpenter under contract through the 2015 season.
Drafted 25th overall four years ago, Carpenter would have been assigned a $7 million salary for the 2015 season if they had opted to do so.
Carpenter was a 10-game starter in 2013 as the Seahawks won the Super Bowl.
Carpenter has started 26 of 32 career games played in three NFL seasons.
He's under contract through next season.
