Seahawks rookie John Moffitt suspended for 4 games

Seattle Seahawks rookie offensive lineman John Moffitt is on injured reserve and he will not be paid for the remainder of the season as he has been suspended for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

That also means Moffitt, who had season-ending knee surgery, will not be able to rehabilitate at the facility for the next four weeks. Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times reported the suspension.

The third-round draft pick had a promising season before he was injured. Moffitt’s agent Michael George told O’Neil his client tested positive because of medication used to treat hyperactivity. Per the report, Moffitt did not clear the use of such drugs with the NFL. Moffitt is not appealing the suspension to ensure he is ready for the start of the 2012 season, and perhaps because he knows the chances of prevailing are slim.
