The Seattle Seahawks missed out on Ben Watson when the free-agent tight end signed in Cleveland, but they were successful landing Watson’s backup, Chris Baker.
The veteran has agreed to a $4.75 million, two-year contract, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, and gives the Seahawks a reliable veteran to pair with standout John Carlson.
Baker caught 14 passes for 142 yards with two touchdowns last season with the New England Patriots. He’s just three years removed from a 41-catch season with the New York Jets. It will be interesting to see how much double tight end action the Seahawks go to this season with the new coaching staff.

So he's going to be making more than Carlson as a backup?
Hill proved himself to be a good man in his 9rs time. He handled the cards dealt him in a professional manor and put his best on the field. I feel confident that the same man will show up with the Lions. He is a credit to the breed.

Value signing, he can compliment a good player in the starter John Carlson, several NFP readers commented on his quality contribution to their team the past year. Baker can be reliable enough in the catch game to add another option in planning.
