Injured Chase Daniel still advanced running offense Brad Biggs
The New Orleans Saints wrapoed up their OTA practice Wednesday without Drew Brees.
His backup was not be available either.
Quarterback Chase Daniel is out with what Joe Vitt, the interim head coach, described as a hairline fracture in his right thumb on his throwing hand. Daniel said it was more like a sprain but nonetheless he had a brace and will not be able to throw for 2 ½ weeks, according to Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Daniel, who took over the offense in the absence of Brees, still gained plenty with all of the extra work he received.
The bad news is the Saints reached the finish line with Sean Canfield and the recently signed Luke McCown as the only healthy quarterbacks. Daniel will be fine for training camp and presumably Brees will have a contract – either a one-year or multi-year deal – by then. Consider this just another bump in a very bumpy offseason for the Saints.
