Sean Payton will not be permitted to attend the Hall of Fame Game Sunday night when the New Orleans Saints play the Arizona Cardinals, but the suspended coach will be allowed to attend festivities in Canton, Ohio, this weekend.

Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Payton has received special permission from the NFL to attend the ceremonies this weekend. However, his season-long suspension prevents him from attending the game, which is the day after induction ceremonies that will feature former Saints offensive lineman Willie Roaf.

Payton will travel to Canton with general manager Mickey Loomis, who has an eight-game suspension beginning at the start of the season, and owner Tom Benson. Holder reports Payton will have 24 hours to contact the NFL and inform it of any contact he has with anyone from any NFL team while in Canton. That is because of the suspension.
